Thursdays | 3:45 - 5:45pm | The Norwalk Art Space | Every 3rd Thursday of the month for 6 months…September 18th, October 16th, November 13th, December 18th, January 15th, February 19th, Final Presentation March 26, 2026 Free and open to students 15 -18 years of age looking to take the next step toward an artistic career | 10 spots | Registration is required through The Norwalk Art Space website and ALL classes must be attended to qualify for the $250 award and certificate of completion Course Description If you are looking to develop your artwork into portfolio-ready pieces that will impress your desired school or the next gallery that you approach, then this class is for you. Students can work on artwork from classes being taken at The Art Space or at your school with Duvian Montoya, Darcy Hicks, and visiting artists advising on how to improve and advance your artwork. This course will also help you discuss, critique, and write about your work. The presentations, advice, and dialogue between professional artists will equip any student for the next chapter in their artistic journey. Duvian and Darcy will also assist in reviewing exhibitions, public art proposals, and college applications for interested students. Students will be asked to prepare an artist statement and present 5 pieces of art to the class and Board Members at the end of the 6-month course. A $250 award will be given to each student who completes the artist statement and presents it at the final class. You must attend ALL CLASSES to qualify for the $250.
