Fridays | 4:00-6:00pm| The Norwalk Art Space | Session #1: October 2 - November 20 (8 sessions) Free and open to students 14-18 yrs old | 12 spots | Registration required through The Art Space website | Class Description: Are you ready to create a still-life painting? In this eight-week studio course, students will develop a finished still-life painting. Beginning with an exploration of composition and photography, students will learn how professional artists intentionally arrange objects to create visually compelling works. Using “exotic” fruits, tropical flowers, textured papers, and colorful backgrounds, students will design and photograph an original image. Then, they will translate it into an acrylic painting using traditional techniques, including canvas preparation, underpainting, drawing, color mixing, and layering. At the end of the course, students will have created a visually compelling painting that can be used in their portfolios. NOTE: This course is a FULL 8 WEEKS; please be sure you will be available to attend ALL EIGHT CLASSES. You will learn from Resident Artist Kristin-Armani Hill, who will share ideas and techniques from her own artistic process. Kristin draws inspiration from fruits, flowers, and fabrics to create interesting and detailed compositions.
