Art as Activism

With 2025-26 Resident Artist Devin Long

Starts Jul 4The Norwalk Art Space

Description

Fridays | 12:30 - 2:30pm | The Norwalk Art Space | July 4, 11, 18, 25 and August 1 (5 sessions) Free and open to students 13 - 18 yrs of age | 12 spots | Registration required through the Norwalk Art Space website Do you feel the urge to speak out? You can do so with your artwork. It has the potential to change minds, whether by informing people about a global concern (like climate change), or a local one (like school start times). First, we will look at activist art that affected political and/or social realities in the past. Then, you will create your own responses to an issue you personally care about. In the process, we will go over formal art concepts, such as line, value, color theory, typography, and composition. All art mediums will be available!

VOLUNTEER

The Norwalk Art Space was a gift from our founder, Alexandra Davern Korry, and relies on the community's support to make its operation sustainable. We have a small staff and are always looking for help in a variety of ways.
