- The Norwalk Art Space
Fridays | 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm | The Norwalk Art Space Beginning Friday, Sept. 17 (8 weeks) Free and open to high school students (grades 9-12) up to 10 spots; Registration required Imagine a world that makes you feel safe to grow and rest by creating your own sanctuary. We will first investigate what “sanctuary” means and what characteristics are required for a place to adopt those qualities. Students will then create their own miniature sanctuaries through exploratory drawings and, eventually, sculptures of places we imagine as sanctuaries. Sculptures can be made out of air-dry clay, wire, cotton, cloth, assorted balsa wood, paper, or other recycled craft supplies. We will also collect and integrate fallen natural objects (pinecones, twigs, dry leaves) from Mathews Park. Completed artworks will be showcased at the end of the 8 week session in a student led exhibition in the main gallery of The Norwalk Art Space.
